Basset Hound Puppy Care
You are going to need to puppy proof your house. This should not be too hard since any time that you are not around your pet they will be in the crate. Make sure that when you go to purchase the crate that it is only big enough for the puppy to turn around and stand up in. Since the puppy is going to be so small you may opt to buy a crate that has an adjustable divider, this way as your puppy grows you can just move the divider.
Since it is a Basset Hounds nature to explore, their nose tends to lead them to trouble. It is important that you have a way to keep them out of trouble. If you have a yard that the puppy is going to play in, a security fence is a must. Not only will it keep your puppy in, but it will also keep other animals that may harm your puppy out. Your puppy needs the exercise that a fenced in yard can provide, so it is important that you give them the opportunity and the safe place to run and explore. Before you bring your Basset Hound puppy home, make sure that you have everything covered to take care of its basic needs. You will need a good puppy food, along with a food and water bowl. You will want to keep your puppy clean and free of fleas so you need to have all of the basic hygiene products. The more prepared you are the more relaxed you and your puppy will be their first week home.
