Basset Hound Shows

Depending upon where you live, you may not have to go too far to find a place to compete. A lot of the bigger cities in most states will hold separate dog shows. If your city isn’t one of them, do not give up hope, with a little research you should be able to find a show near to you.

If you are truly interested in getting involved in dog shows, it may be your best bet to purchase a show puppy. These puppies come from breeders that only mate show dogs. This is the best way to make sure that your dog will measure up to the standards for the breed. keep in mind that these puppies are going to cost you a good bit more than a regular puppy. They cost more for the simple fact that they come from high standard dogs.

If you are not sure that you want to go pro with your dog, than there are a lot of clubs that you can join. These clubs are full of Basset Hound owners that love their pet just like you do. A lot of these clubs will host their own shows. These shows are not as serious as the pro ones. So if you are looking for just a fun little competition than go for a group show. If your area doesn’t have one call and ask a local veterinary they should be able to point you in the right direction.
