Basset Hound Training

When you decide that you are going to bring a Basset Hound puppy into your home you are in for a very rewarding experience. These dogs are loyal and they are loving, they will follow you anywhere as long as you play your part and give them everything that they need to thrive. Along with providing them with a vet and the food and the shelter that they need you also need to train them. If you take the time to train your puppy the two of you will have a much better relationship.

A puppy much like a child does better if they have boundaries and know what is expected of them. Never give your puppy the full run of the house, if you do it will make it virtually impossible to house break it. Another problem with giving the pup the run of the house is the simple fact that you cannot constantly be with them, when you are not around if they are not confined to a small area they could get into something that is harmful to them.

It is important to start with the basics first. Do not dive into training and think that you are going to have a show dog in no time at all. Be patient with your puppy; remember that they are just babies. It is just as frustrating for them as it is you, when you are trying to teach them something that they just don’t know how to do. While patients are very important it is also a must to never lose your temper.
