The Information You Need On Bark Collars

Have your neighbors complained about your dog’s barking when you leave for work? A barking collar could clear up all of those issues.  The kind of barking your dog does with no good excuse is known as problem barking.  Just like humans, dog’s can bark for hours on end.  There may not be any reason for your dog to bark.  He barks at cars, birds in the grass, people crossing the road, or dust motes, but whatever the case, he just won’t stop.

There are many different types of techniques that people use to try to stop problem barking.  The best time to apply these tactics, which mirror other training behavior, is when your dog is small and hasn’t yet formed the habit of barking at everything.  If that time has passed, and you are now dealing with a mature dog that barks nonstop, the first thing you do is find the reason they bark.

If they are barking out of boredom, the easiest solution is to spend quality time with them and get them involved in outdoor activities.  If you find that your dog feels very nervous, you can find ways to comfort them, such as a blanket or bed to feel secure with.  If you see that your dog is a very loud dog, training will be slightly hard, but still could happen.

Barking is a very annoying habit. Statistics show, the majority of pet owner’s give away their pets due to uncontrollable barking.  It is very disappointing to give away your family pet for something that was not corrected when he was a pup.  The quotation, “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” doesn’t have to be a reality.  It takes patience and effort on your part, certainly, but it can be accomplished.  By purchasing a bark collar, you will notice immediate results out of your dog’s behavior.

Dog bark collars do not replace personal involvement.  It is possible to use both training and the bark collar by applying the collar only while your not home or if he is outdoors.  These bark collars come in several different types, however, two stick out the most.  The first collar that is popular is the spray collar. This collar uses a citronella, lemon or citrus based spray that mists in your dogs face to make him stop unnecessary noises. The electronic bark receiver is the second famous collar. This collar sends a slight pinch of correction on his collar line.  The intensity is compared to a static shock that you get during the winter if you scrub your socks on the carpet.

Every barking system is designed for different kinds of dogs and come in a variety of styles, models, and styles.  Make sure you talk with a professional if you are uncertain of which collar to pick.  Veterinarians and trainers do not suggest using collars on dogs that are younger than five months or weigh less than four pounds. Certain collars go on smaller pets but not normally smaller than four pounds. The shock may be too powerful or the collar may be to big.  You should be able to put two fingers in between the collar and your dogs neck.  Using the collar start your retraining of your dog.  Every time they bark continuously tell them “NO BARK” in a strong voice.  If he does not pay attention to your voice the collar will send him the correction. Sooner or later, your dog will put your voice and the shock together and listen to you the first time.  If they comply, praise them and consider providing a treat.

Don’t leave your dog in a collar for more than eight hours on any given day, and remember, the collar is most effective when combined with your involvement.
